A walk around the neighborhood
A Tour of 9th & 9th with the Whale
Choose 8 highlights or all 23 stops, each with its own map pin. Take the short loop, the full route with fewer crossings, or a one-way walk west. The Human Tour tells you why to stop. The Whale Tour reads every place wrong on purpose.
Made up by Whale Fortunes for fun. No city office, artist, gnome, or meteorologist signed off on it.
Sources and independence note
The places, addresses, and links are the documented ones from A Whale's field guide to 9th & 9th, last checked August 22, 2026. The readings are ours. None of these businesses sponsor, endorse, or are affiliated with Whale Fortunes. Menus and hours drift, so check a place's own site before making a special trip.

Meet at the roundabout
The Whale is at 900 South and 1100 East. Stay on the sidewalk. The roundabout is live traffic and the Whale would rather keep you.
Start with Caffé Expresso on the south side, walk west to East Liberty Tap House, then continue to a marked crossing you judge safe for the western turnaround. Follow the north-side stops east toward the Whale and obey all traffic signals.
23 stops between 1100 East and 850 East. Give it at least 30 minutes if you mostly walk and read, longer if you go inside. Reading from the couch also counts as fieldwork.
